Reading:
We will be reading, "The True Gift" as a class this week. We will use all the reading strategies/literacy terms we have worked on so far this year as we dig deep into each chapter. We will work through the comprehension process as we share this touching novel together.

Math:
Fact/Written Test on Friday

Science: Ch. 6
Earth's Resources- We will finish lesson 3 on Tuesday. A chapter review is scheduled for Wednesday and a test is planned for Thursday. I might push the test back to Friday if I think the students need another day to review.

Important Information/Dates:

I will place our December Scholastic book order on Monday Dec. 8th. Please remember to send me an email if you would like these books to be a surprise. I will put the books in the office and send you an email so you can plan pick up.

I wanted to let you know that I will allow 20 min. at the end of every Wednesday during Advent for students to complete their homework at school. Advent services and/or family devotions are an important part of preparing our hearts and minds during this season and I value your time and would like to help your family do all the various things scheduled on Wednesday nights during Advent.

Second grade will have their Advent service on Wednesday the 17th. Our chapel service will be at 10:00 a.m.; send your child to school in regular standardized dress. Our evening service will start at 7:00 p.m. Your child should dress in church attire for the evening service. Drop you child off in the church basement at 6:45. It will be a packed service so you might want to arrive early to pick a good seat. I am expecting all students to be there. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND EITHER ADVENT SERVICE! Each child has a speaking part that will need to be adjusted if they will not be able to make it.

The Polar Express will be coming to second grade on Dec. 18th! This is a day full of fun and Christmas excitement that Miss. Beach and myself plan as a Christmas gift to all second graders. Watch for more information coming home in Friday folders.
