Math: ICE CREAM PARTY on Tuesday!
I am so proud of the students for working hard to reach our goal of completing 100 addition facts in less than 5 min. We will take time to celebrate their success on Tuesday with an ice cream party!
We will take a break from the formal Saxon lessons this week to brush up on all of the other math skills we have learned. This week we will have math centers that that focus on skills such as: measuring, temperature, fractions, and telling time to 5 min. intervals. Students will be assigned fact worksheets for homework.

Social Studies: Ch.8 How Can I Be a Good Shopper?
Students will learn a lot about consumers and producers this week as we prepare for Market Day. Market Day will be held on February 26th. This will be a time for students to put into practice some of the things they have learned in a market setting. Students will earn "Market Day Money" throughout the next two weeks as they attend to their job as students. They will use this money to buy things at our market. A letter will come home on Tuesday with more information. Students will work with a business partner to make a store signs, commercials, and decide on something they would like to sell to the consumers. This is not something that you need to spend money on unless you and your child have discussed the matter. Please only do what you feel comfortable with. There are plenty of "free" options for students to pick from. I will work with the students to help them come up with a product or service but I encourage parents to discuss this with your child as well.

Important Information/Reminders:
We will be going to The Painted Pot on Thursday, March 10th in the afternoon. We will be learning about glass fusion and students will create a cross using this technique. I am in need a few parent drivers. If you have completed the background check and would be able to help transport students that afternoon please email me and let me know how many students you can fit into your vehicle.
I'd like to thank Mrs. Walker for helping me get this set up!

During Lent homework will not be assigned on Wednesdays.

Reflecting on our week:
Reevaluating our ramp designs- gaining a better understanding of what worked, what didn't, and why.

A few pictures from our Simple Machine Lab...

STEM Lab: How can we get water out of the can without scooping it out with our hands?
Extended problem- What happens when the can is out of arms reach and how does this adjustment change the design?

Thanks to all of our room parents for helping us celebrate Valentine's Day! A big hug and thank you to Lorie Lorenz for pulling it all together!
