Spelling: Test Tuesday
Every quarter students will have a list of 25 High Frequency Words that they are expected to recognize by sight and spell properly. We will hit these words hard this week but I encourage your child to study them at home over the weekend.

Writing commas in dates
We will continue to identify the setting, but we will also begin to discuss sequencing, retell, and visualization of short passages.
Math: No math homework this week
We will review first quarter math concepts with math centers.
Some key focus areas: time, money, temperature, shapes, and fractions.
Social Studies/Science:
We will continue to finish up Ch. 5 in our Science book.

Parent-teacher conference slips are in Friday folders. I did my best to accommodate special requests. Please let me know if you will attend by signing the form and sending it back to school as soon as possible.
Zion's teachers will be traveling to Grand Rapids to attend a teaching conference.
Field trip permission slips are in Friday folders. Please sign and return by 10/17/16. Students will need to wear their red Zion t-shirts and bring a cold lunch that day (no peanut butter please). We will eat in our classroom when we return. A special thanks to our chaperones: Michelle M., Kari M., Abbey W., and Joe L.
We will have our Harvest party the afternoon we return from the Art Museum.
