Reflecting on our week: Our week was very busy! We focused on Non-fiction texts and learned a new strategy for comprehension. Each student used 2 different colored highlighters. One was used to highlight words they knew and one was used to highlight words they didn't know. As a class, we went through the unknown words. Some students were surprised because they thought they knew what a word meant but after discussion they realized they had to adjust their thinking.
Fiction is by far everyones favorite genre to read but students should also spend time with non-fiction texts and learn how to read them. For the remainder of the school year we will learn different strategies for approaching non-fiction texts and how to gain a better understanding of the things we read. This will help us to become individually responsible for our reading comprehension.

We also worked on writing and AR goals based on our work first semester. We will be taking a closer look at our writing to help us meet our goals.
