Jug Masks (experiencing different media)

Important Information/Reminders:
Special note from the music teacher:
Please have your child bring in a box for music class on Tuesday. Any kind of small box—kleenex, shoe box, even soap box.  We will be making instruments with them.  :-) Thanks!!

We are also in need of recycled materials for a Community Development Project. Your child has a choice in how they would like to represent differences in the three types of communities we have been learning about in Social Studies. The majority of the students want to create a model, so I have asked those students to bring in recycled materials to use.  These models will be a group effort and your child will have a specific job assigned by a group leader.

In addition to the recycled items above we are also in need of milk jugs (gallon and/or 1/2 gallon) or the 1/2 gallon orange juice containers that are similar. The containers need to have a handle. We will be making jug masks in art. I'd like to start this project next week if possible. I will be bringing in extras, so no worries if you don't have one, just let me know so I can plan accordingly.

Repeat Information from last week:

Here is a website, from our Reading Specialist, that has a few audiobook links for you to look through. I really like Storyline Online but look around to see which ones you like. Youtube also has some great read aloud posts you might like to check out. If you have a Kindle or a Nook you can look for audiobooks specific for those devices.

I have a Scholastic link on our class blog under Important Links/Resources on the right hand side of our home page. This link will automatically go to our class account. I place the orders at the end of every month.

Reflecting on our week:
Students introduced their partner for their writing to inform assignment...
Students "shared the pencil" to write a story about a castle, a dragon, and a princess...

Students acted out their stories...
