Important Information/Reminders:
Writing expectations: Students have been working hard to improve their writing. Every student has different goals based on writing conferences and past work. Below is a quality writing example for second grade. Please compare this with your child's favorite season writing sample that is coming home today (a few are still on display in the hallway if they were absent the day we did our weaving art).
Before third grade I would like students to have the structure of a paper down (write words on the lines of the paper, start on the left hand margin). If your child is still struggling with this please encourage writing at home by giving them a journal, or letting them write family members letters.

Reflecting on our week:
With close friendships come the spread of germs! :) We have been hit hard by the flu and strep this week. We continue to encourage good hand washing and respecting the space of others at school. Please watch for signs of illness (headache and temp) in your child. If your child displays any of these signs it would be a good idea to take them to the doctor to get tested, so they can start medicine to shorten the duration.
