Important Information /Reminders:
Your child is a digital citizen. They are connected online and face a world filled with social media... but are they ready? Are you ready? Plan to attend our Parent Technology night on Thursday, September 21st. The evening starts at 5:30 with appetizers and adult beverages, at 6:30 we will Skype in expert Lee Crocket, and at 7:30 we will offer breakout sessions to learn more about how Zion helps your children navigate the digital world.

Our chapel offerings are going to an organization called Friends of Kids with Cancer. I've attached a link to their website so you can learn a little more about what they do. We decided we would put up a heart in our room signifying every $10 we contribute as a class to the organization. This is not meant as a competition, it is simply a way for us to have a visual reminder of our goal and our joined effort in helping Zion raise $5,000 this school year.

*Please remember to check your child's math homework.
*Make sure students come back to school with their red homework every day.
*AR books should come home every night and return to school every day, if possible. I set aside time for students to read during the school day, so it is helpful if they have their AR book with them every day. If your child is not coming home with a book check in with them and let me know so we can find out where the breakdown is happening. :)

Reflecting on our week:

Students had fun building interactive maps...

Using a map key to find animals on the St. Louis Zoo map...

Using Google Earth to find Zion Lutheran School...

Fun finding beaches in Chicago using a map of the area...

This week we had our first faith family activity.  Our devotion was about being Living Stones.  Each of us is a living stone alive in the Lord and together we make a spiritual house dedicated to the worship of our Lord.  We spent time decorating a stone to be used as an outdoor art reminder that we are living stones and we stand on Christ.  We then returned to chapel to celebrate Baptismal Remembrance for July, August, and September.
