Math: We have started 100 addition fact sheets. The goal is to complete the sheet within 5 minutes. So far, times have been decreasing every day. Keep up the good work at home.
We have also started adding two-digit numbers with regrouping. This is usually a tough concept but overall I am pleased with how well the students are catching on.
With the start of Advent practice and these new expectations/concepts in math, we will slow things down until we return in January. We will continue to work on concepts and fact speed in class but we will not continue with new lessons until after Christmas break. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Beware! Subtraction fact sheets are coming! This is why we are slowing down to focus on the 100 addition sheets.
Science/Social Studies: Natural Resources
The 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
Students will analyze our campus use of the 3 R's and they will create and implement an action plan to decrease our impact.
Quiz- Tuesday: Look for a study guide to come home on Monday. This will be a short 3 question quiz with one short answer question.
Important Information /Reminders:

Our class is adopting Rylee, and 8 year old, for Christmas. We got her name from Friends of Kids With Cancer. She lost her sister recently to cancer. She wears size 9 clothes and size 3 in shoes. Her favorite color is pink. Her bedroom has a Paris theme. She loves angels and dragonflies.
Gifts should be wrapped and labeled. You can drop them off at our class until 12/15. Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your kindness, gifts, and prayers.
December is a busy month packed with special student-led Advent services every Wednesday, and with that comes many days of practice. Our class schedule will change and things will need to be moved around in order to fit practice times into our day. December is all about being flexible and if you ever have any questions please email me anytime.
Our Advent service is the last Wednesday before Christmas break (12/20/17). We will have a performance for the student body during a special 10:00 a.m. chapel service and we will have another performance at 7:00 p.m. Please let me know as soon as possible if you know your child will not be able to make it that day. I have assigned speaking parts, but I can rearrange things if you know your child can't make it.
Reflecting on our week: We had a great time making our PicCollage Natural Resources assessments.
Students learned about the 4 different types of Geologists. They created posters explaining the differences and posted them on our unit wall in our classroom.
Our rock investigations sparked a lot of excitement in the classroom! We learned about the 3 types of rocks.
