Tuesday:
Professional sculptor, Wayne Trinklein, will visit second grade. Mr. Trinklein will talk to the students about being a professional artist. He will also bring in supplies to teach his craft and give students the opportunity to experiment with using copper.
Here is a link to his websites if you would like to take a look at his work:

Wednesday:
Jackson Pollock Day
Students will learn about Mr. Pollock's artistic style and techniques before they will try some of these same techniques on their own. Students will come to school in their uniform and change, after lunch, into old clothes and shoes that are perfect for the trash! Students should be dry by pick up time but bring a trash bag just in case for your child to sit on in the car. Every student will get messy, some might be covered in paint. The paint should come out in the wash but I suggest to send in clothes that you can just throw away!
The LHS girls soccer team will help run the paint centers.
No Backpack Day- send change of clothes to school in a Walmart type bag. This way we can avoid getting paint on backpacks if, by chance, the students aren't dry by pick up time.
Thursday:
Students will clean out their desks and bring home all supplies on Thursday.
Friday:
Last day of school is Friday, May 29th. We will have closing chapel and awards ceremony to start the day. Then we head back to classrooms for a quick good bye before an approximate 10 AM dismissal.
Reflecting on our week:
We finished our Social Studies end of the year project and they turned out even better than I thought they would. Students had to decide on a dream vacation, picking time and length of trip, along with what they would do on their trip, and what they would need to pack. Students used technology to research destinations and they typed up a packing list using notes. Then students exported their list and it was printed out. I was impressed by how many students figured out how to add emojis. Some students used this new knowledge to create rebus stories to share with the class.
