Math: Test Thursday
The students are feeling confident about double-digit subtraction and it shows on their faces during math! We talked about how they felt at the beginning of the new concept compared to their feelings now that they are confident. I tried to highlight the importance of those uncomfortable feelings that come from new learning and how great they feel when they push through, work hard, and arrive on the other side. Going from novice to expert is a hard battle but instilling grit, determination, confidence, and wonder are the life-long necessary traits that will help them do great things. I am so blessed to walk through learning struggles with them! I share their same joy once I see their faces light up with that, "I get it!" look.

Science/Social Studies:
Market Day is coming!!!! We will shift to social studies as we begin to explore the topic of economics. Students will learn about consumers and producers by providing a good or service to sell to their classmates. Students will earn money prior to market day based on their "job performance" as a student, in addition to the money they earn selling their market day items. Students will create a "storefront" made up of a store sign (name of their choosing) and commercials to advertise their good or service to be sold. Please let me know if you have any questions. In the past, I have had students do things as simple as selling old books (with the permission of their parents) and providing face painting, to more extravagant things like ducktape wallets, individual containers of slime, and handmade cloth bookmarks. Let me know if you have any questions.

Reflecting on our week:  Last Friday was Compound Word Day! Students had a great time showing off their skills by identifying compound words all around them.

We met with our buddy class on Tuesday and created fun President Day bookmarks. It is always a treat to spend time with some of our preschool Bobcats from Mrs. Mudd's class
